In partnership with TFI Environment Inc. 3 sets of Blue Coat products were analysed using EcoFly. See the Case Study for more details,
Eight leading consumer electrical products went through an evidence based study using EcoFly to provide life cycle impacts for a key research initiative from the UK Government funded WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) programme. WRAP is a not-for-profit business, well established in the UK working with leading businesses to divert waste from landfill, reduce emissions and ultimately benefit business, consumers and local authorities. Issues around resource efficiency and minimisation of products and materials, packaging and collection at end-of-life are key areas of focus for WRAP.
This project shows the importance of making high volume, consumer brand electrical products as sustainable as possible. The study is being used to help WRAP influence the future direction of the producer and consumer market and encourage further improvements in production, use and disposal of electrical products. The study assessed a wide range of leading electrical products commonly in use in households across the UK - from a vacuum cleaner to an electric toothbrush, and a television to a hair-dryer.
